Shire Meeting Minutes, June 2010

Attending: Alia, Thomasina, Lareej, Mayken, Sabas, Albra, Catherine, Richard, Wilhelm, Ismay, Etienne

 

Meeting started: 7:05 p.m.

 

Officers

A&S: Quarterly Report is done.  Need guilds to send blurbs for their groups.  Textiles is going well, very good attendance.  Scribal is also going well.  There will be all-day sewing at Thomasina’s school on Saturday, June 26, 2010, more details to follow

 

Chatelain: Aran was not present but sent a report. The Time Warner Demo was on hold.

 

Chronicler: June 2010 was the last issue.  The shire thanked Rhieinwen for her service, and she thanked the shire for allowing her to serve a 2nd time.

 

Constable: Someone left black and white fabric at Anniversary.  Sabas to turn over Constable box to Ismay.

 

Exchequer: As of May 31, we have $7742.63.  We brought in $757 for Anniversary.  After all expenses have been paid, we made a profit of $305.

 

Herald: No submissions.  However, there were two awards given at Darach Anniversary.  Congratulations to Lady Lareej for her Sable Oak and Lord Wilhelm for his Harp Argent in Brewing.

 

Lists: We had an event and it went well.  Duke Sven, under the alias of Svencilneck Geek is our heavy champion and Lorccan is our protector.  Don Alexander is both our rapier champion and protector.  Aldgytha ran the equestrian list.  Lady Virginia is our Champion for Equestrian!

 

Marshal:. There needs to be more or a break in the fighting, and a call time for the equestrian finals.  Timing needs to be better.  The issue will be revisited closer to next year’s Anniversary

 

Quartermaster: All is well.  Items that were taken out for anniversary were returned..  Wilhelm has some stakes out for repair.

 

Seneschal: Thank you, Rhieinwen for taking on the Chronicler’s position.  Seneschal’s report due 6/10.  Will contact officers if I need specific information.   Officers need deputies.  Coronation is Saturday.  Hope everyone attending has a good time.

 

Webwright: No change

 

Youth Officer. There were hobby horse races at Anniversary as well as some unofficial crafts, including cornstarch blocks for building.

 

Guilds

Textiles Guild. Textiles well attended

 

Brewers Guild. There was a meeting at Kim and Tom’s in May.  June 10 is the next meeting and it will be at Albra’s

 

Cooking Guild. Catherine said the guild is still on hiatus.

 

Herbal Guild. Lavender Festival is June 26, 2010. 

 

Scribal Guild. Scribal is doing well.  Scribal turned out 4 -5 major scroll blanks.  Next scribal guild is June 24 at 7:00 at Pacifica.

 

Woodworking Guild. Luzia sent a report that the guild is still on hiatus. Call for an appointment.

 

Old Business

Site Booklet Cover Letter. Letter is very good.  It will be kept with the Seneschal’s box, and be signed by the Seneschal as needed.

 

Shire Fundraiser – Rhieinwen has not been able to get in touch with the gentleman who did the map.

 

Black Oak Lodge 2011 – One bid from Lady Lareej.  Persian Paradise is the theme.  There will be a vote in August

 

Darach Anniversary – Royals had a wonderful time, Mayken handed out lots of thank you’s.

 

New Business

Thrown Weapons at Fighter Practice NO!  There is a county regulation against that, and concerns about safety.   We will need to find an appropriate venue

 

Getting Information out to people w/o Internet The shire will be mailing the minutes to them until such a time as we have a Chronicler again.

 

French Festival Demo  Shire of Isles is doing French Festival Demo on July 17 and 18, go support them, if you have an inclination.

 

Register the Shire Pavilion at GWW   We can register the shire pavilion as we did last year to get land for it.  The shire was overwhelmingly in support.   Shire is encouraged to pre-register and allocate for land.  Kelvin is Campmaster.

 

Upcoming Events

Pirate Tournament (Lareej), Jul 31. All is well.  There will be a shire potluck and Damien has donated a Damascus blade.

 

Yule (Ismay), Dec 18. It’s happening!
